The primary wing of our school provides a happy, caring and a stimulating environment that instills in our students a joy for learning. The school follows a broad and balanced curriculum which recognizes the integration of the cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains of learning.
We ensure that every student in the Primary wing realizes his/her potential and is fully prepared to progress to the middle school with confidence and self-esteem.
Teaching – Learning Strategies
To develop core competencies, a variety of creative and innovative classroom strategies are implemented. These help in meeting the diverse needs of young learners. It includes pair work, group work, project work and extensive hands on activities that actively engage all students in learning. Digital tools are also used to facilitate learning and creativity. While the emphasis is on the learning and understanding of concepts, sports and co-curricular activities are also emphasized as they provide the values of teamwork and cooperation at an early age. We also give equal importance to the creative side of the children through art education, music and dance. The sports programme in the Primary School provides ample opportunities for children and spots their talent at a young age.
Language Development
The school provides a conducive environment, which encourages them to communicate with other children and adults, verbalize extensively, enhance vocabulary, narrate stories, recite poems and ask innumerable questions.
The children are encouraged to read story books, newspapers and quotations. We strive for a positive attitude towards books and interest in reading a good variety of literature both for pleasure and as means of acquiring knowledge.
Numeracy Development
Mathematic skills play a vital role in the everyday lives of the students. They are taught to develop confidence with numbers and measures in understanding of the number system, computational skills and the ability to solve number problems in a variety of situations. The school aims at integrating the concepts taught through hands on mathematical activities.
Scientific Attitude Inculcation
The primary goal of teaching science and social science in school is to develop in the students a sense of awe and wonder for the world around them. They are encouraged to explore, investigate and find answers using the concepts taught to them in the classroom. They learn to establish direct linkages between practical experience, ideas and thoughts.
Physical Development
The psychomotor development is met by a myriad of activities planned by the school. They include regular physical fitness classes, yoga, taekwondo and skating training.
Social and Emotional Development
The school not only focuses on the acquisition of academic skills but heavily emphasizes the development of the student’s personal, social and emotional growth.
Learning environment provided is such that it maximizes their chance of realizing the importance of being responsible and ethical.
Emotions and feelings are critical to know how students feel. These emotions and feelings are a great part of the interactions and relationships that form within the school.
They are taught to handle responsibilities in different capacities at both the class and school level. They participate in day and overnight camps and out-station excursions which teach them to interact amongst their peers in informal settings.
Evaluation at Primary Level
- A system of continuous comprehensive evaluation is followed.
- Students are graded regularly and evaluation is based on child’s participation and performance in class activities, homework, project work, group work, worksheets, class assessment, class response, reading and communicative skills, individual and group behavior.
Assessment of competencies in languages, Sciences and Mathematics is undertaken on a regular basis. Students from class III onwards are evaluated through formal assessments too. Four formal assessments are conducted in the academic session, twice during each term.
